Care that sees the whole person.
Mind Over Matter offers thoughtful psychiatric evaluation, medication-informed care, therapeutic support, and practical treatment planning in a warm, small-practice setting. We help you understand what may be happening—and what a realistic next step could look like.
Complimentary consultations are for prospective new patients and help determine fit. They are not diagnostic evaluations, treatment visits, or emergency services.
A clear path from questions to care.
You do not need to know exactly what kind of help you need before contacting us. Begin with a brief consultation or request an evaluation, and we will help clarify the most appropriate next step.
Free 15-minute consultation
A brief conversation for prospective new patients who want to explain what is going on, ask basic questions, and determine whether Mind Over Matter may be an appropriate fit.
Request a consultation →Initial psychiatric evaluation
A comprehensive 60-minute assessment of symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, medications, functioning, safety, and treatment goals. Diagnostic impressions and treatment options are discussed when clinically appropriate.

A real relationship with your psychiatric provider.
Lori Vasquez, MSN, PMHNP-BC, leads a small psychiatric practice designed around thoughtful listening, clinical reasoning, and continuity. The goal is not to rush through a checklist—it is to understand symptoms in the context of your history, health, relationships, work, school, stress, sleep, and everyday functioning.
When appropriate and authorized, Mind Over Matter communicates with therapists, primary care clinicians, family members, or other members of the care team. This helps reduce fragmented care and supports safer, more coordinated decisions.
More than a prescription—and clear about our scope.
Our work combines psychiatric assessment, medication management when indicated, therapeutic support, and practical planning. We do not promise a diagnosis or medication, and medication-management visits do not replace ongoing psychotherapy when therapy is needed.
Listen and assess
We review symptoms, history, functioning, health factors, medications, risks, strengths, and goals.
Clarify the picture
We consider possible diagnoses, overlapping conditions, medical contributors, and whether more information is needed.
Build a plan
Recommendations may include medication, monitoring, therapy, lifestyle support, testing, coordination, or referral.
Review and adjust
Follow-ups track response, side effects, safety, functioning, and whether the plan still fits the patient’s needs.
Psychiatric care for real-life symptoms and decisions.
Every evaluation is individualized. These are common reasons patients contact Mind Over Matter; they are not promises that the practice will be the right fit for every condition or level of acuity.
ADHD
Clinical evaluation, rating forms, collateral history, objective QbCheck testing when appropriate, interpretation, and individualized treatment planning. Testing does not guarantee a diagnosis or stimulant prescription.
Anxiety and panic
Evaluation of persistent worry, panic symptoms, physical anxiety, avoidance, stress, and the ways anxiety affects sleep, work, school, and relationships.
Depression and burnout
Care for low mood, irritability, loss of interest, reduced motivation, fatigue, hopelessness, and difficulty functioning.
Bipolar-spectrum and mood disorders
Careful review of mood episodes, sleep, energy, impulsivity, medication response, safety, and patterns that may require ongoing monitoring.
Trauma-related symptoms
Psychiatric assessment and medication-informed support for hyperarousal, intrusive symptoms, avoidance, mood changes, and sleep disruption.
Sleep concerns
Assessment of insomnia, circadian disruption, sleep-related anxiety, medication effects, mood symptoms, and whether medical or sleep-specialist evaluation is needed.
Alcohol and substance-use concerns
Compassionate, nonjudgmental psychiatric support, medication options when appropriate, harm-reduction or recovery planning, and referral to a higher level of care when needed.
Perinatal mental health
Psychiatric support during pregnancy, postpartum, fertility treatment, and reproductive transitions, with individualized risk-benefit discussion.
Medication review and optimization
Review of effectiveness, side effects, interactions, prior medication trials, adherence challenges, and opportunities to simplify or improve the treatment plan.
Two clear paths for adults. Private pay for minors.
Insurance information is provided as readable text so it remains accessible and easier to keep current. Insurance participation never guarantees coverage; every adult patient must verify eligibility and plan-specific benefits.
Use insurance through Headway
Adult patients who want to use insurance should begin through Lori’s Headway page. Headway handles eligibility and insurance booking. Participation is subject to the patient’s specific plan, network, benefits, authorization rules, and cost-sharing.

Clinical expertise with a human scale.
The practice is designed for patients who value direct communication, individualized decision-making, and care that considers more than a symptom list.
Experience and judgment
More than a decade of clinical experience informs careful assessment, medication decisions, safety planning, and recognition of when another level or type of care is needed.
Whole-person perspective
We consider emotional, psychiatric, medical, social, occupational, academic, sleep, and lifestyle factors that may shape symptoms and treatment response.
Personalized continuity
Care plans are built around the individual’s needs, preferences, risks, goals, and response over time—not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
